SBS: The General VS The Scorpion (PRELUDE)

(DISCLAIMER: The info provided and the following fight will be written by my friend, Randomaneer123. He specfically requested that I would upload it for him. All the credit belongs to him.)

UL: "Once upon a time, some arthropods crawled out of the ocean and said 'Hey, what if we grew eight legs, become poisonous, and scare the shit out of humans' and his friends said 'Wait, what's a human?'"

Mettaton: "Arachnids are an interesting bunch of animals. Despite having a fearful reputation, these eight-legged creepy crawlies are surprisingly not as bad as some may perceive them as... Unless you live in Australia, in that case, Asgore help your soul."

UL: "But what happens when an arachnid lives up to their terrible, vicious image that humans had associated with them for years?"

Mettaton: "Arachnophobes, get ready. This is going to be traumatizing..."

UL: "The General, The South American Menace with an army."

Mettaton: "And The Scorpion, The Deadly Creature of The Sonoran Desert!"

UL: "Hello everyone, I'm The Unemployed Loser and he's Mettaton!"

Mettaton: "And join us as we analyze these two warrior's strengths and weaknesses to see who is the true superstar!~"

UL: "LET'S HIT IT!"

The General:

Aka: The Eight Legged Frank Lloyd Wright

Species: Unknown Prehistoric Tarantula-like Arachnid

First Appearance: Arachnophobia (1990)

Theme:

Feats:

-His species is described as the top of the food chain for his local ecosystem

-Killed numerous victims

-Snuck his way into the U.S. through a photographer’s coffin

-His mere existence alone caused a threat that could’ve spread nation-wide and might’ve even made large portions of the US uninhabitable

-His army caused a sizeable dent the supposedly large cricket population of Canaima over the span of a few months, to the point no one could hear their chirps at night

Strength:

-Has a particularly painful bite, with his fangs being able to draw blood

-Was able to unlatch a backpack and free itself with ease

-One of his children easily moved a paper party cup, despite it being sat on top of it

--In the comic, it threw this cup aside without issue

-Killed a bird while it was in mid-flight

-Seemed to have overpowered mice and rats

-A group of his children seemed to jiggle a loose doorknob, moving it aside enough to move through it

-Clung onto Dr. Jennings during their final battle

-Moved a small piece of wood just by tapping it with one of his legs

Speed:

-Is actually very quick despite its small size

-Despite being a larger spider, can jump great distances, being several feet at a time

--Leapt into a stretcher filled with cargo as it passed by a tree he was resting in

--One of his children was able to jump several feet onto a photographer’s camera

-Able to leap at and onto people quicker than they can react, with him killing Dr. Atherton this way

-Dodged out of the way of a bottle thrown at him

-Ran at Jennings quicker than he could react

-The quickest spider on earth can move at around 4 mph, so perhaps one could scale him to this as he should be greater than any other spider

Durability:

-Scales above his children, several of which survived falling out of a tree after being knocked out by poison

--Another one got up moments later and still had the energy to leap at a photographer

---In the comics, this insecticide was said to be strong enough to “kill an elephant”

-In the comic, a soldier shrugged off being slapped several dozen feet by a girl and the General himself endured getting swatted away by Dr. Mannings

-Shrugged off jumping out of a tree and onto a backpack

-Survived for an unknown yet decently long period of time in a coffin, draining the fluids from a human as its only sustenance

-Shrugged off falling dozens of feet with a crow landing on top of it

-One of his soldiers survived two direct sprits from an exterminator’s spray and had to be manually crushed to die

-Shrugged off getting hit by a glass bottle and launched across a room, before hitting the ground

-Was hit by glass and didn’t react

-Survived being in close proximity to a burst of fire from a spray can

-Survived being thrown to the floor by Jennings

-Was launched across the basement and into a fire, and still had enough energy left in it to charge down and leap towards Jennings while on fire.

--Only fully died when he got a nailgun round through his cephalothorax, which likely penetrated his brain

Intelligence:

-Far more aggressive than most spiders, attacking things that pose little threat to it

-Crawled into Manley’s bed to kill him despite the human being no threat to him

-Was able to jump into a backpack being loaded with other cargo to get back to the main scientist camp without being detected

-Killed Jerry Manley and debatably knew to sneak into his coffin as it was being shipped back to the US

-When Dr. Atherton tried luring the General out tapping the strings of his web, the General ignored this and leapt at the doctor himself

-After having a bottle thrown at him, knew to dodge out of the way of another one thrown at him

-Knew to stay behind cover to avoid getting sprayed by fire

-Used sneak attack tactics in his fight with Jennings

--Waited long enough for the doctor to put his guard down before charging him

-Actually seemed to play with Jennings, as, instead of blitzing him for a bite when he was pinned, it took its time crawling up his leg and even pausing to look at him, when it could’ve gone for his ankle

--Of course, this led to its demise

-One of the official songs on the soundtrack, “Don’t Bug Me” takes place from the spider’s perspective, implying it desired to be left alone, though this is technically outside material and might not meant to be taken literally

Unique Physiology:

-Due to being a genetic marvel that’s been unchanged for millions of years, the General has many traits a normal spider doesn’t have, as well as the more standard ones

-Heightened strength, speed, durability, and intelligence are obvious, as shown above

-As with all spiders, has many tiny hairs on his legs, letting him climb walls and rough terrain

-Produces webs with shocking speed, as it took the General basically one night to coat the entirety of the upper floor of a barn in massive spider webs, some of which were the size of a fully grown man

--His children coated an entire human body in webs in just a few minutes

--Said webs were able to hold up the corpses of a cat and a rat as well as a bat, which seemed to get caught in it and being unable to break free

---In the comics these webs restrained and held up a macaw and even got a fully grown man stuck when he walked into one

--Is also able to do basic stuff like using silk to help itself climb and descend

-Drained the blood out of a fully grown man’s corpse over the course of a relatively short period of time to the point he looked like he was completely drained of all fluids

-Has the ability to hiss, which can scare off prey and other opponents

-Able to easily crossbreed with a Domestic House Spider, despite being millions of years apart, genetically speaking

Venomous Bite:

-The venom of the General and his children are far more powerful than that of even the Sydney Funnel-Web Spider or the Brazilian Wandering Spider, both of which have been considered deadly to some humans

--Was stated to be several times more potent than a Black Widow

-Causes injected targets to bleed from the mouth

-Also causes spasms and seizures

-Able to kill a fully grown man in just a few seconds

-Dropped a crow dead mid-flight after just a moment of biting it

Soldiers:

-Instead of the typically solitary behavior of spiders, the General’s species act more like a colony of bees or wasps, producing hundreds, or even thousands of offspring that follow his commands

-Just one breeding session with a Domestic House Spider (Tegenaria Domestica) would produce 100-200 soldiers, however, it’s unknown if the General’s broodmother produced more or not

-None of them have any form of sexual reproductive organs, so they can’t reproduce

-All of them have a bite as venomous as the General’s

-Seemed to wipe out the cricket population of Ganaima to the point no one heard them chirping during the nights in only about a month’s time

Egg Sac:

-The General is also able to produce a Queen when he mated, allowing him to breed further generations of his troops, with her guarding his Egg Sac

-The size of a softball, which is far larger than any modern spider’s egg sac

-Contains dozens, if not hundreds of soldiers, which seem to come out in a more mature state than a typical newborn spider

Weaknesses:

-Is still just a spider, and could be crushed by a human or something heavy

-Losing a few of his legs would be a massive hindrance

-Some more potent types of bug spray can kill him and his offspring

-Often relies more on sneak attacks than true, physical combat

--Given he is just a spider, this makes sense

The Scorpion

Species: Possibly a Hairy Desert Scorpion (Hadrurus arizonensis)

First Appearance: Deadly Creatures (2009)

Theme:

Feats:

-Survived much of its life in the Sonoran Desert until it reached adulthood

-Is so strong various species end up working together just in an attempt to kill him despite most being animals that would never work with others.

--This includes team-ups between the same species, bugs working with other bugs, and bugs teaming up with mammals.

-Escaped the clutches of the Gila Monster

-Trashed the Tarantula Hawk’s Cactus Citadel

-Managed to inadvertently put George Struggs into a coma after it fought with him

-Became an even match for the Tarantula, and eventually, the two seemed to form a mutual respect of wanting to be left alone

-Killed the Geico Lizard

Strength:

-Can dig through and knock aside dirt walls without issue

-Can easily clear away dead weeds and bramble

-Able to damage a wide variety of creatures that typically scale above a scorpion IRL

--This is typically in group fights, with the Scorpion fighting off crowds of foes at any given time

-Can pick up and slam a beetle down with enough force to stun it

-Can easily pick up and slam down fellow scorpions and tarantulas without any issue

-Is able to trip up every creature in the game (bar bosses) with his tail

--This ranges from basic beetles to lizards, rats, horned toads, and such

-Able to rip the wings off a tarantula hawk

-Can rip his way out of spider silk and large webs, which typically have the strength of steel if it had the same thickness

--Is also able to rip his way out of the Tarantula’s webs, which were strong enough to give a rattlesnake difficulty removing them

-Can pick up and slam down lizards with immense force

-Can slam a Black Widow into the ground with one pincer with enough force to kill it, splattering out blood

-Can bash a mantis’ arm with enough force to smash its claw through its chest and out its back

-Its stinger stabbed through the roof of a horned toad’s mouth and into is brain with enough force to kill it

-Can snap the necks of lizards

-Can knock much larger horned toads onto their backs

-Easily penetrated through the skull of a rat with its stinger

-As powerful as the Tarantula, whose bites can penetrate a rattlesnake’s scales

-Can cling onto Struggs’ pants despite him trying to shake the arachnid off

--Struggs killed Wade with a few hits from his shovel and bashed a Gila Monster to death barehanded

-His stings caused Struggs great pain, though he did aim for a… delicate target

Speed:

-Some Scorpions can move up to 12 mph

-Is able to dash forwards and sideways at extremely quick speeds to get the drop on opponents or dodge out of the way

-Dodged out of the way of the Tarantula’s bites and keeps up with it in combat several times

--The Tarantula itself is able to dodge out of the way of a rattlesnake’s strikes, which reach anywhere from 6 to 10 mph

-Able to dodge out of the way of a charging Gila Monster

-Is able to easily combo numerous insects, reptiles, and fellow arachnids before they can react

-While in gameplay, he’s never shown to jump, during some finishing moves, the Scorpion is shown to be able to jump several inches off the ground

-Able to burrow himself completely underground in less than a second

-Can dodge out of the way of the striking Tarantula when he couldn't see her

--The Tarantula herself sensed a rattlesnake about to strike her from behind)

-Able to to dodge Struggs’ shotgun blasts, though he was more or less “aim dodging” than truly jumping out of the way

Durability:

-Can endure hits from mantises, beetles, various forms of spiders and far more

-Can shrug off bites from creatures that one-shot scorpions IRL, these being rats, lizards, and horned toads

-Can take being envenomed by the likes of Tarantulas, Tarantula Hawks, and Black Widows and wait out the poison until it wears off

--Black Widows themselves can obviously cause even larger creatures, like humans, problems, and Tarantula Hawk venom oneshot another arachnid in game, killing a Tarantula in moments

-Can endure strikes and bites from the Tarantula, whose fangs can cause a Rattlesnake pain

-Shrugs off getting slammed into by a charging Gila Monster that was easily several times his size

-Can shrugged off getting stomped on by Struggs

--Struggs killed Wade with two hits from his shovel and bashed a Gila Monster to death barehanded

-Able to endure several point-blank shotgun blasts and still somehow survive

-Was in close proximity to this massive explosion that destroyed a gas station and came out unscathed

--This same explosion left Struggs in the hospital

--For reference, this is what the gas station looked like afterwards

--While it’s hard to put an exact measure on this blast, it should be around Small Building level

Intelligence:

-Is a master in combat, fighting off all kinds of animals his size, ranging from rats, lizards, mantises, other scorpions, spiders, the Tarantula, and even a human

--Scorpions can live up to 5-10 or so years, so we can assume that he’s had at least a few years of experience fighting off numerous aggressive animals

-During a fight, will employ a wide variety of devastating combos, further elaborated on below

-Knows to aim for weak points during a fight, such as the opened mouth of a horned lizard, the wings of a tarantula hawk, the back of a rat’s head, or even Struggs’ nether regions

-Is fine with tactically retreating when outmatched, such as against Struggs or the Gila Monster

--Dug out certain segments of a weakened section of dirt to cause a cave in so he could get an opening to flee said Gila Monster

-Loosened the soil around a large stone so it would fall and create a pathway for the Scorpion

--Did a similar action for a soda can

-Should debatably be smart enough to use tools, such as when it made a praying mantis impale itself on its own claw

-Was smart enough to form a grudge against the Tarantula, tracking it down to try and kill it

-Should be comparable to the Tarantula, who is intelligent enough to dodge out of the way of a striking snake so it slams its head into a cacti

-Smart enough to use his environment to his advantage, as he knocked several enemies into a bug zapper until it fell, creating a pathway for him

Pincers:

-A powerful set of claws used to block incoming attacks and grapple with foes

-Can hold onto Struggs’ jeans and another rough terrain when climbing

-His claws can also act more like a pair of fists, letting him perform “punches” and bashes

-Can put them over his face and charge forwards, using the blunt portion of his claws to slam into whatever’s in front of him, letting him ram through opponents

-His pincers also act like a pair of primitive hands, letting him grab things to perform all kinds of moves

-Used to burrow

-Can easily be used to clear away dead weeds and bramble

Tail:

-A much longer-ranged melee option for the arachnid

-Often used to deliver finishing blows

-Can be swung around to leg-sweep enemies, knocking them down

-Was able to pick up and slam down a mantis with it

-As with most scorpions, his tail ends in a venomous stinger

--He can charge up his venom during each strike, with longer charges injecting more venom

--While the exact species of Scorpion he isn’t completely clear, he’s likely a Hairy Desert Scorpion (Hadrurus arizonensis) which has only moderately potent venom, likely explaining why one tail strike doesn’t kill an enemy instantly in-game

--Can penetrate the exoskeletons of arachnids and insects, pierce the furry and scaled hides of rats and lizards to envenomate them, and stab into a rat’s skull deep enough to get to its brain

Arachnid Physiology:

-Despite its heightened physical and mental abilities, is still a scorpion, and does what you would expect a scorpion to do

-Equipped with two natural claws and a long, stinger-tipped tail, as most scorpions are

-Able to climb many types of terrain, as one would expect from such an animal

--While in-game, he never crawled on ceilings, it can be assumed he could if given the abilities of a normal scorpion

CQC Adeptness:

-Uses his powerful pincers and deadly tail to perform combo attacks, ranging from punches and double-clawed bashes

-Is able to perform many maneuvers one wouldn’t expect from a scorpion:

--Is able to basically power-bomb and piledrive the likes of beetles, tarantulas, and lizards

-Able to Judo Throw fellow scorpions

--In the finishing move for a lizard, the Scorpion gets it into a headlock

--Able to dig under the ground and quickly pop out to deliver powerful double-pincered uppercuts

--Can stop and flip a charging horned lizard, using its momentum against it

--Uses a Mantis’ claws against it, making it impale itself

-As mentioned above, is able to use his claws, tail, and tense up his body to block attacks

-Can trip up opponents with his tail

--Even including spiders and insects, which should have good stability with their numerous legs

-Should be mentioned that the Scorpion can fight opponents even at sheer 90 degree angles, such as on walls or while he’s climbing a stump

-Is also able to fight off groups of opponents and can even take on varied groups of creatures (Like rats, lizards, and spiders teaming up just to try and take him down)

Digging/Burrowing:

-Hairy Desert Scorpions have the ability to burrow, so it adds further proof of what species he is

-Is easily able to burrow a pathway through loose dirt walls and floors

-Is also able to dig himself underground, and quickly pop up for a Burrowing Strike, as shown above

Healing Factor/Power Absorption (?):

-The Scorpion seems to have some innate ability to heal a small amount of health when it consumes prey

-In-game, this typically takes the form of crickets, pillbugs, and grubs, however, he can devour larger opponents as well

--Crickets definitely heal him the most, though

-The Scorpion also devoured another scorpion during his travels, and may or may not have gained the ability to dig from eating him

--It’s unknown if this is through consuming him or if the Scorpion himself knew how to dig beforehand or learned it by watching his fellow arachnid

-The Scorpion had a similar incident where he killed a mantis and after feasting on it, knew how to clear away dead weeds and bramble

Weaknesses:

-Despite being far more powerful than any real-life example, is still a scorpion, and could be overpowered by a human or larger creature

-Losing a few of his legs, claws, or stinger would be a massive hindrance

-The potency of his healing factor likely wouldn’t be enough to bring back lost limbs

-Needs to eat to heal in the first place

Alright, after looking through this, I have to side with the scorpion here.

Overall better fighter, has tussled with big bad spiders before as well as other dangerous predators, and seems to edge out in the stats department.

Only advantage I see the general having is numbers with all of its offspring, but I doubt they're going to do much to it that the general itself couldn't, and I see the scorpion just being able to fight them all off.

Should make for an interesting fight.
